  • Google Analytics is a free service offered by Google. Support for Google Analytics on WordPress.com is part of the WordPress.com Business plan, that includes everything else you need to build a great website.
  • To get started you’ll need to sign up at the Google Analytics site. After you click “Sign up” you can begin creating your account.
  • Be sure to fill in the “Account Name”, “Website Name”, and “Website URL” fields. The Website URL field is where you’ll enter the address for your WordPress.com site. Next, scroll to the bottom and select your “Data Sharing Settings”. By default all four Data Sharing settings are selected. You can read the description for each setting to decide if you would like to opt-out. When you’re ready, click “Get Tracking ID”. You’ll need to agree to the “Google Analytics Terms of Service” to continue.
  • On the next page, look for the “Tracking ID”. It will look something like UA–90363941–1. You’ll need that ID to finish connecting your site to Google Analytics. Copy it, and return to your com settings.
  • Paste the entire ID you copied from the Google Analytics site into the “Google Analytics Tracking ID” box. After you click “Save Settings” your site will be connected to Google Analytics and start sending data to Google.
